The territory of Baon spans 8.57 km² of limestone plateaux, crossed by the Froides Fontaines stream.
Local heritage
A Burgundy village that nurtures its memory and looks to the future
Nestled in the gentle landscape of the Yonne, between hedgerows and farmland, Baon is one of those villages that resists being forgotten, kept alive by those who live in it and love it.
Baon's built heritage mirrors the village itself: modest, but right. The Saint-Vallier church, Romanesque in essence, dominates the village with that quiet gravity typical of rural buildings that have weathered centuries.
Baon's landscapes are worth exploring slowly. The village sits within a territory of limestone plateaux covered in places by vast woodlands — oak groves, coppices and copses that change face with the seasons.
Baon is not an open-air museum. It is a living village, with its families, its projects and its traditions maintained.
"In Baon, the past is not behind us — it is all around us."
